MOSCAT

The Misamis Oriental State College of Agriculture and Technology (MOSCAT)

Moscat

My sister Mylaine is currently here finishing here last year of agricultural studies. Here is a little info on this excellent college.

MOSCAT  located in the upland farming community of Claveria. One of the 24 towns comprising the province of Misamis Oriental. It is 600m above sea level and overlooks Macajalar and Gingoog bays. 60 km from Lumbia Airport and can be reached in an hour’s ride 31 km north-east. From province’s capital city, CDO (Cagayan de Oro). The college  set on approx 150 acres (65 ha). Its main campus is on approx 70 acres (32 ha) for its field laboratories and production enterprises.

MOSCAT

Started as Claveria Municipal High School in 1963 with 165 students and five teachers. In 1967, to Claveria National Rural High School (CNRHS) under RA 3781. Again in 1983. The CNRHS converted to Misamis Oriental State College of Agriculture and Technology. Or MOSCAT with Arsenio B. Gonzales as its first president. Gonzales’  highlighted by the Republic of The Philippines-European Union Agricultural Education Grant. Providing more facilities and machinery, vehicles, buildings and faculty training  and abroad. During this  period, the notable Model Farm established showcasing sustainable upland farming technologies.

The institution conducts research in which it generates new technologies packaged or demonstrated designed to help farmers improve farming techniques. Extension programs conducted through local and external linkages. Its MOSCAT-Farmers’ Information and Technology Services Center in collaboration. With PCARRD and NOMCARRD have been open to serve clients needing information and technology services.
Anchored to this vision and mission are the four-fold functions that the college upholds namely, instruction, research, extension, and production. That every MOSCATian strives to realize through a culture reflected in the MOSCAT Spirit:

M – Make things happen

O – Opt for the best

S – Spell the difference

C- Chart every win

A – Add glow to nature

T – Touch human heart
